I’m seeing the “preamplifier not fitted” message. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

The “Preamplifier Not Fitted” message is often caused if the socket on the top of the instrument has been twisted which in turn can cause damage to either the internal connections on the main circuit board or to the preamplifier itself.

The first thing to check is the alignment of the connector on the sound level meter.

Remove the preamplifier and look at the socket on the top of the body of the sound level meter.

The connected has five white tabs as shown in the image below and the largest of these should be at the top of the connector.

If the largest tab is not at the top, the connector has been twisted. Please contact Cirrus Research plc for more information or assistance.
